Introducing Maison Drouault, a tale where sleep is like a waking dream
There are companies that are not merely discussed in terms of their products, but in terms of their heritage. Companies that do not simply manufacture goods, but uphold a way of life. For 175 years, in Le Mans, Drouault has been writing its own history, preserving a level of expertise that only the great houses know how to maintain.
Founded in 1850 by Mr Courboulay, Drouault is one of the oldest companies in Le Mans still in operation today, and the first industrial manufacturer specialising in the collection and processing of feathers and down.
A bit of history!
In 1873, at the age of 13, Constant Drouault joined the company. He was fascinated by everything to do with the feather industry. A traveller at heart, he travelled the world to perfect his training and took over the management of the company in 1905. From that point onwards, the company has continued to modernise, culminating in 2018 with a new brand signature: “Made in Extraordinaire”, a reaffirmation of the expertise and DNA of the Drouault brand. The introduction of a Drouault eco-responsibility charter and the evolution of its environmental policy.

Imagine a place where time stands still… It all begins with the down. The selection and sourcing of the down are meticulously managed, from a strategic location, with farms in the Vendée and the South-West. Each feather is selected as one might choose a fine wine: for its lightness, quality and ability to retain heat whilst allowing the body to breathe. Then comes washing, a technical stage that purifies and cleans whilst respecting the down’s delicate structure, giving it that unique sensation of softness and loft. Next, high-temperature drying sanitises the down and removes all impurities. This is where the master down craftsmen step in: each blend is designed for a specific level of comfort, the hallmark of the house.
With the filling process, each piece comes to life: the down is blown into its cover, distributed perfectly right into the smallest corners, giving it that incomparable loft.
But the luxury of Maison Drouault doesn’t stop there!
It lies in the choice of fabric, the fineness of the weave, and the density of the threads. Nothing is left to chance: everything is meticulously crafted and designed to last, to protect, and to ensure absolute comfort during sleep. The final stage: the hands of the seamstresses and tailors. They make the adjustments and put the finishing touches to the pieces. At Drouault, detail is no mere detail. Before leaving the workshop, every item is rigorously inspected and then approved. The Drouault brand stands for uncompromising quality.
