"No one is obliged to do the impossible”
Treca Stores throw away this proverb by accompanying you in the realization of all your projects. Regardless of their degree of complexity. To prove it to you, Lucas, our manager in London, shares his expertise and our solutions with you.
Can you describe the way you work with your customers for bespoke bed projects?
It all starts when the customer contacts the store. It can be directly in store but, today, we are also often contacted by phone or email. Since the Covid crisis, we have also developed a digital studio to be able to organize video meetings and facilitate remote exchanges. Following this first contact, a complete diagnosis is carried out by our teams (sleep, comfort, aesthetics, technical aspects, special dimensions - large widths and defining heights - integration, deadline requirements, type of delivery, complexity of the installation, etc.).
This step can be carried out in-situ or on plans in order to fully understand all the specificities of the project. It is through the consideration of all the requests and the expectations of the client that our Treca expert then conceives and budgets a tailor-made proposal. If it is validated by the customer, we then begin manufacturing in one of the French workshops of Treca Paris.
« Our relationship of trust is for the long term. Our customers are very demanding, this requires great availability and responsiveness on our part. »
Lucas Demange, London Marylebone Treca Store manager
On which aspects of the creation of the bed do you intervene?
Our core business is to support customers - whether individuals or professionals. Good bedding is not just a good mattress: it's also the right bed base, suitable bed linen, good sleep accessories (pillows, duvet, etc.) and decoration such as the headboard or the mattress cover.
The decoration, precisely, is a very important point in the art of the bedroom…
Yes, at Treca, we operate on an integrated manufacturing model. We are lucky to be able to work directly with the craftsmen who make the beds and to benefit from the diversity of their savoir-faire (sewing, carpentry, upholstery, tapestry, etc.).
We are able to customize this bedding “from the feet to the headboard” with choices of classic designs, but also creations from designers who collaborate with the brand such as Charles Tassin and Sarah Lavoine; or by adapting to the creation of the architect or decorator chosen by the client.
We know how to work very closely with the biggest manufacturers of upholstery fabrics such as Pierre Frey, Dedar, Kvadrat and even Lelievre. Moreover, our Treca Store at Place des Victoires is located in the heart of a Parisian district with many creators, designers and fabric stores. It is a choice location that helps us to build very close relationships with them.
Finally, the mattress is also customizable: several choices of comfort or firmness, thickness per centimetre, materials and fillings of the climatic sides, embroidery... We can imagine practically everything.
What specific bespoke requests come up regularly?
We have the advantage of being able to respond to any type of request. The most recurrent is the integration into fixed structures or existing wooden beds. Yachting and the development of private jets also play a part in this. Tréca already offers products that meet these specific standards, but we can go further if necessary.
Is there a work process already conceptualized? key steps? tools dedicated to this type of project?
More than a process, we set up a customer journey adapted to the project and which allows customers and prescribers (interior designers, personal shoppers) to benefit from a unique experience and support. In addition to their how-to-sleep knowledge, our teams are also trained to work on a plan to be able to guide our customers as well as possible.
What is the average time between taking the “brief” and its completion?
This ranges from a few hours for a simple purchase to several weeks for a more complex project. Our productions are mostly made on demand, and if the deadline requirements are very tight, we can often arrange the schedules of the workshops and our delivery teams.
Do you ever go on site to see the situation / find a solution?
Of course. Very regularly in fact. This is important to understand the complexity of access to rooms but also to be proactive by providing samples, for example.
What is the level of commitment of your teams?
We require 100% commitment from our teams. Because it allows us to create a relationship of trust with our customers and therefore, great loyalty. We often work on several projects for the same people by equipping, for example, their main and secondary residence, by the sea or in the mountains. Our relationship of trust is for the long term. Our customers are very demanding, this requires great availability and responsiveness on our part.
Can you give me two concrete cases where you were able to provide a 100% “in-house” solution?
1 - One of our clients was remodelling his bedroom from floor to ceiling. It was necessary to adapt the bed base to the nearest millimetre to be able to rest it on a custom-made box located under the upper end of the bed. We also had to design and manufacture bed legs with different heights for the feet and the head.
2 - We have just completed a chalet development project in the French Alps. Among the four bedrooms, there was one where the architect wanted to have bedding that could be separated into a single bed or connected into a double bed. All with a single headboard. A big challenge! Thanks to our design office, we designed a bespoke headboard and a special connection system for this project.
What is the most extravagant request you have had to answer?
The client of a famous Parisian hotel wanted to sleep in this hotel on his Treca mattress: the Paris Istanbul mattress. The hotel contacted us to deliver the said mattress within 48 hours in size 200x210 cm. Manufacturing and logistics challenge met!
Has there ever been an impossible mission?
It would be dishonest to say that nothing is impossible, but we make it a point of honour to seek all possible and imaginable solutions before saying no to a request. In any case, we will propose alternative solutions.
