La Chambre du Président: the Art de la chambre enhanced by Treca's role of upholsterer-decorator

For the one hundredth anniversary of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, the Mobilier National hosted the Nouveaux Ensembliers exhibition. Among the creations present, the President’s Bedroom, created by Pierre Marie Studio stood out for its boldness and mastery of the language of decoration.

Designed as the bedroom of a head of state visiting the French Embassy, this work explores the symbols of power through the prism of decoration. Between intimacy and representation, Pierre Marie Studio applied its unique universe to this room where decoration, colour and material become vectors of a poetic and contemporary story.

This staging of decoration resonates particularly well with Treca’s spirit and values, the iconic French brand of exceptional sleep expertise and savoir-faire. A meeting of art, design and excellent craftsmanship that can be viewed until 2 November 2025.

Beyond the bed, the excellence of the profession of upholsterer-decorator

While Treca has been renowned for 90 years for its exceptional beds and its unparalleled know-how, the brand is also custodian of another art: that of upholsterer-decorator.

A passionate, precise and emotive profession in which each gesture counts and each material has a story to tell. At Treca, being an upholsterer-decorator is much more than covering a piece of furniture in fabric: it is understanding the subtle dialogue between shapes, materials and volumes. It is an ability to pair a lush velvet with a headboard with sleek lines, to alter the join of printed Jacquard weave, or to select the weft of a linen to enhance an armchair.

Each Treca creation is a unique piece, handmade by exceptional craftspeople. The upholsterer-decorator orchestrates comfort and aesthetics in the piece, ensuring perfect harmony between the design and the material.

A creative dialogue between Pierre Marie Studio and Treca

In La Chambre du Président, Pierre Marie Studio fosters a dialogue between the decorative arts and the craftsmanship of art. Though its collaborations with master glass-blowers, tapestry weavers, enamellers and embroiderers, it puts together a complete work that represents both a tribute to heritage and a future-looking stance. Treca perceives its profession in the same vein: as the art of linking tradition and modernity.

By collaborating with top fabric designers – Pierre Frey, Lelièvre, Dedar, Designers Guild – the brand is constantly exploring new textures, new reflections and new tactile emotions.

Where Pierre Marie Studio sees decoration as a symbolic language, Treca translates this poetry into the material, a pleat, a seam, the tension of a perfectly adjusted fabric. Together, they embody this French vision of decoration: refined, alive and bold.

The Art de la Chambre, a living heritage

Through this exhibition, Treca reminds us that its savoir-faire goes far beyond the field of sleep. The upholsterer-decorator is a key person in contemporary creation, a person who crafts beauty and who participates in the staging of the most exacting of interiors. In this universe of luxury, as in the embassies designed by Pierre Marie Studio, they embody the invisible hand of decoration, the hand that transforms a space into a sensory experience.

In La Chambre du Président, the Art de la Chambre speaks the language of both politics and poetry. For Treca, it is still, first and foremost, an art of living, nourished by a feeling for the right gesture and respect for high-quality materials. Two visions united in the same love of French savoir-faire.

Treca, the elegance of French-style sleep expertise

For nearly a century, Treca has perpetuated the tradition of craftsmanship while constantly reinventing the art of sleep and of decoration. A living heritage, borne by its upholsterer-decorators, who make each creation a bespoke work – simultaneously functional, aesthetically-pleasing and deeply human.
