La Chambre du Président: the Art de la chambre enhanced by Treca's role of upholsterer-decorator

To mark the centenary of the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts, the Mobilier National is hosting the exhibition Les Nouveaux Ensembliers. Among the creations on display, La Chambre du Président (The President's Bedroom) designed by Pierre Marie Studio stands out for its boldness and mastery of decorative language.

Conceived as the bedroom of a head of state visiting a French embassy, this work explores the symbols of power through the prism of decor. Between intimacy and representation, Pierre Marie Studio unfolds its unique universe where ornament, colour and material become the vectors of a poetic and contemporary narrative.

This staging of the decor resonates particularly well with the spirit and values of Treca, an iconic French company renowned for its expertise in sleep and exceptional craftsmanship. An encounter between art, design and artisanal excellence to be discovered until 2 November 2025

Beyond bedding, the excellence of the upholsterer-decorator's craft

While Treca has been renowned for 90 years for its exceptional beds and know-how, the company is also a custodian of another art: that of upholsterer-decorator.

It is a profession that requires passion, precision and emotion, where every gesture counts and every material tells a story. Being an upholsterer-decorator for Treca is much more than just covering a piece of furniture with fabric: it means understanding the subtle dialogue between shapes, materials and volumes. It means knowing how to combine deep velvet with a headboard featuring clean lines, adjusting the pattern of a jacquard fabric, or choosing the weave of a linen fabric to enhance an armchair.

Each Treca creation is a unique piece, handcrafted by exceptional artisans. The upholsterer-decorator orchestrates comfort and aesthetics, ensuring perfect harmony between design and material.

A creative dialogue between Pierre Marie Studio and Treca

In La Chambre du Président, Pierre Marie Studio creates a dialogue between decorative arts and craftsmanship. Through his collaborations with master glassmakers, weavers, enamellers and embroiderers, he composes a complete work that pays homage to heritage while looking towards the future. It is in this same spirit that Treca approaches its craft: as an art that bridges tradition and modernity.

By collaborating with leading fabric designers — Pierre Frey, Lelièvre, Dedar, Designers Guild — the company is constantly exploring new textures, new reflections and new tactile sensations.

Where Pierre Marie Studio imagines decoration as a symbolic language, Treca translates its poetry into the material, the fold, the stitching, the tension of a perfectly fitted fabric. Together, they embody this French vision of decoration: refined, lively and daring.

The Art de la Chambre, a living heritage

Through this exhibition, Treca reminds us that its expertise extends far beyond the realm of sleep. The upholsterer-decorator is a key player in contemporary design, a craftsman of beauty who helps to create the most demanding interiors. In the world of luxury, as in the embassies designed by Pierre Marie Studio, they embody the invisible hand of decor, transforming a space into a sensory experience.

In La Chambre du Président, the Art de la Chambre becomes both a political and poetic language. For Treca, it remains above all an art of living, nourished by a taste for the right gesture and respect for noble materials. Two visions united by the same love of French craftsmanship.

Treca, the elegance of French-style sleeping expertise

For nearly a century, Treca has been perpetuating the tradition of craftsmanship while constantly reinventing the art of sleep and decoration. A living heritage, carried on by its upholsterers-decorators, who make each creation a bespoke work of art — functional, aesthetic and deeply human.
